When walking along the beaches of Cap Negret (Cap Negret) and La Hoya (La Olla, L’Olla), the exceptional silence and beauty of these places is striking. Azure clear waters, open views of the Rock of Ifach, fishing boats drying up on the shore…

It is not surprising that this particular place was chosen for the construction of the magnificent five-star hotel Villa Gadea and the residential complex of the same name with luxurious apartments, a huge adjacent territory with 10 (!!!) swimming pools and flowering gardens.

More than 100 years ago, this land belonged to Vicente Gadea Orozco, Doctor of Law in Valencia, Rector of the University of Valencia (appointed three times to this post), Dean of the Valencian Academy of Lawyers (elected three times). Dr. Vicente also received the title of Marquis from Pope Leo XIII.

4 hectares of land, a magnificent country estate with panoramic sea views…
In 1890, the prosperous lawyer Vicente Gadea Orozco built a manor house here, known as Villa Gadea or Villa of the Angels (Villa de los Angeles). Project architect: José Juan Camagna Laimon.

The house was built in the style of Italian palazzos by the famous architect Andrea Palladio, using some modern materials from the late 19th century, namely iron and glass. The villa is crowned with an octagonal glass pyramid-dome. A similar “crown”, but a more modest quadrangular one, adorns the modern hotel complex, as if by chance reminding of its heritage.

All this luxury passed to the state after the death of the last representative of the family and the direct heiress and daughter of Vicente Gadea, Maria de los Angeles Gadea, who died childless in 1950.

The estate has survived to this day, but in a somewhat reduced form. For several years, the former estate of the Gadea family was used as a local police station until 2014, then as the headquarters of the International Music Center. The villa has also been rented out for numerous cultural events. In part of the building there is also a chapel, where the celebrations in honor of St. Lorenzo took place until the 1950s, then they “moved” to the modern parish of St. Lorenzo, which was built next door.
